Beijing upcoming Daxing International Airport due to open in 2019

Construction is underway for one of the biggest airports in the world - the Beijing Daxing International Airport. The airport is about 42 miles south of Beijing’s city center, and will be accessible by high-speed train. The airport will cost US$12.1 billion to build and expect to serve 45 million passengers initially, but could eventually serve 100 million passengers. Two major Chinese airlines will use the airport as a base, which will account for most of the traffic. After it opens in 2019, this airport will be one of the largest airports in the world.
