Cambodian Seaport To Be Finished by 2019
According to an article in the Khmer Times, construction of the first seaport for tourist vessels in the Kampot Province of Cambodia, should be completed in 2019. Construction of the large scale project was previously scheduled to begin in September, yet this was delayed and is expected to come before the end of this year.
The new facility will be a welcomed addition in the efforts to boost tourism in the Kampot Province. Upon completion tourists from Thailand, Vietnam and the Cambodian Preah Sihanouk Province will be connected to Kampot.
According to the Khmer Times, the Provincial Tourism Department Director Soy Sinoi, has said that government officials are now in the process of preparing the legal framework for the construction project. The Director also said that the government are taking care of other aspects of the project in order to ensure that the project proceeds as planned.
“Construction will start by the end of the year because the legal framework and construction studies are being developed smoothly,” according to Mr Sinoi.
