Pong Kheav Se to spend late life for massive airport project
Phnom Penh: One of the most reputed local investors in infrastructure and property development projects  in Cambodia is Oknha Pung Kheav Se. With this great reputation, now he has been awarded the contract from the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to build the largest international airport in the country. Speaking at the first meeting of the New Phnom Penh International Airport Assembly Site Committee on 28 February 2019, OCIC President Oknha Pung Kheav Se said he was appointed by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen to undertake the new airport development project located in Kandal and Takeo provinces. The largest building project ever in Cambodia comes amid his aging years, but to cope with the investments and huge task of this project would be a great honour in his life, he said. “Now, I'm 71 years old, and when the airport is completed I am already 87 years old, I should not accept this project", said Pung Kheav Se. It is a historical building that will be the last of his career. Cambodia plans to have two more new airports, which are being implemented by foreign companies, in Siem Reap and Preak Sihanouk provinces.   Meanwhile, Chea Oun, secretary of state and spokesperson for Civil Aviation, told KHB Media via telephone: "This is proud for Khmer that local investors can spend billions of dollars to build a giant airport.”   Cambodian Airways Investment Co., Ltd, owned by Oknha Pung Khav Se was given the contract by the RGC for investing in the development of the New Phnom Penh International Airport on 2,600 hectares of land with an investment capital of US$ 1.5 billion with OCIC and the Secretariat of Civil Aviation holding 90 percent and 10 percent of the shares respectively.
